Honestly, it's the sleeper factor. I love how unassuming it looks. Even the non-GTI Golfs are hypers aggressive looking now. Not that I don't like that as well, but the idea of building a sleeper is just too much fun.

Also, for that color, go with a vanity plate! I'm thinking along the lines of "FUTLOOS" (I call that yellow "footloose beige", since Kevin Bacon's footloose beetle was that color!)

EDIT: a girl who gives me rides home on an almost daily basis has one with those wheels, and the sunroof. hers has the 2.5, and the slushotragic gearbox, but it's such a cool car!

That's also the reason I'd go with a base 1.8T. The R-Line (formerly known just as Turbo) comes with some GTI-esque wheels, body kit, and monster spoiler. No sleeper status there lol
